Annie Get Your Gun is next up live at the Historic Palace Theatre in Georgetown! With lyrics and music written by Irving Berlin and book by Dorothy Fields and her brother Herbert Fields, Annie Get Your Gun is filled to the brim with songs you know and love: There's No Business Like Show Business, Doin' What Comes Natur'lly, You Can't Get a Man with a Gun, They Say It's Wonderful, Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better); and a fun (fictionalized) story wrapped around a real-life historic legend, Annie Oakley. (Annie Oakley, 1860-1926, was a sharpshooter who starred in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and had a romance with sharpshooter Frank Butler.)
This amazing, popular musical, directed by Ron Watson, opens on Friday, June 29, on the Springer Memorial Stage at the Palace for a five-weekend run, closing on Sunday, July 29. Patty Rowell, with both beauty and a powerful voice, makes a stunning appearance as Annie Oakley; Patty was last seen at the Palace in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (2011). Phil Rodriguez portrays Frank Butler, described as a “handsome womanizer;” you will remember Phil as King Herrod in Jesus Christ Super Star and as Kenickie in Grease, both at the Palace. Plus a supporting cast with remarkable talent and vim and vigor!
Production dates for Annie Get Your Gun are June 29-July 1, and July 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, and 27-29. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday shows are at 2:00 p.m.
The Palace seats about 295, with reserved seating paid for in the ticket price. The Palace office in the lobby of the theatre is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (except for some holiday dates).
